Re: Emco Maximat Super 11 Lathe Problem High Speed Growling

That is how this operates. You must go thru low to get to the high end. This machine has been operating on the same electric for probably 15 years so I think it is going to be something wore out or going bad. It will still shift to high without hesitation but at times it does this humming / growling...

Re: Emco Maximat Super 11 Lathe Problem High Speed Growling

I appreciate any input. No it wasn't cold, I had been working for a couple hours off and on with the lathe, but steady . I was working about 100 small pieces with short steps, so it was in and out of gear a lot. The chuck seems to spin freely and low speed doesn't sound any different than it always ...

My Super 11 sometimes growls when I shift it to the high gear. It doesn't speed up it just growls. I switch it off and go back thru the low side and mo...

Re: Look What Else I Found

Yea, its tough to try to get use to not having it. I have injured the thumb on the right hand a while back, its fine now, but at the time it wasn't. I was buffing a stainless fish gig on a bench grinder brush and knew it could grab it but thought I could hold it and had leather gloves on, well I was...

Re: Look What Else I Found

Its a thing that you put a bullet or shotgun shell in and when you bang it in a downward motion against something it fires. It has no trigger or much barrel, and will not fire unless it gets struck on the end which makes the barrel slide backwards to fire. Theres 2 types, the least expensive is one ...

Re: Here Ya Go, Some More Whats These

Got that nick name when I was around 13, so about 47 years ago. I could swim underwater and snatch turtles and ducks from underneath them before they knew what hit them. So it was for snatching turtles (cooters) underwater. The other I think your talking about I have snatch them too, and we called t...

Re: Look What Else I Found

I might try to get an idea of whats there, but theres no way I can go thru all them. Like I said theres 70 lbs. of them , and it probably takes 20-30 sets to make a pound. I'll look at a few but I don't want to piece them out. I want someone to buy the 70 lbs. and whatever I have thats threading hea...
