Re: Train Mountain News

Actually, TM was structured as an independent non-profit organization so it appears as if there was considerable effort to "protect" TM after Quentin's death. In fact, under that structure, TM should not be related to Quentin or his estate in any way. The real problem is that the IRS has c...

Re: A3 Switcher Drawing error, FOUND IT!!!!

I found this same error when I built my A3. Interestingly, if you follow Kozo's instructions by making the drill guide to its print and then using it to drill the cylinder you won't have the problem. If you plow ahead on your own and just machine to the cylinder drawing dimensions you'll find the er...

As I understand it, the problem is that the IRS has chellanged the validity of the non-profit org. Their claim is something like Quentin was usining the non-profit to ...

Mike - have you talked to any trophy shops? I've seen some laser etched brass plates that appear to have similar levels of detail to the sample pic you posted. The "crispness" of the laser etch process is far superior to the ferric chloride etching process you'll get with a typical "c...

Bill is probably on the right track - the endpoints of your line segments may not be concurrent, which means no machinable region is being defined to create g-code for. You can verify this theory with a simple test. Make a new drawing that contains a single circle that is larger in dia than the endm...

Take a look at the Alibre design showcase page at http://www.alibre.com/success/contest/contest-winners.asp . Be sure to click on the picture to take you to additional pics of the engine and drawings. I did the first place winning 5 cylinder radial airplane engine 100% in Alibre. The render was done...

So, how do I obtain a catalog with all of the castings, engine kits, etc. that he offers? Is it some inside club thing? How can the engines be so popular if finding out about them is so hard? What am I missing! Gene advertises in every issue of Live Steam mag with his snail mail address and his pho...

Joe - I read a posting somewhere recently that said you had added a section to the Raritan book with Walschaerts valve gear drawings. True? If so, will you be selling that addition separately for those of us who already have the old edition of the plans? Thanks.
