Re: Is the live steam hobby in decline?

I'd agree with the youngsters posting above - the hobby is changing, and lots of "kids" get it. Questions for us oldsters: 1) Does our club web site work on mobile devices. (my club? nope) How many people under the age of 50 use anything that'll display flash content?? Facebook presence? "No way! th...

Re: Question for the European live steamers

I've got two "European" locomotives, with another on the way. You don't want to pull with a hook and chain coupler - use these for decoration, and replace it with a solid "eye" with hole vertical. Use a solid tie bar between your locomotive and your riding car. No buffers required on riding car. The...

Re: Question on 3.5" Rob Roy drawings

Heres why I thought the dimension was incorrect... DOH!!! The horn blocks need to be on the inside of the frames, not the outside! At least you found it now, and, some UK plate framed locomotives (thinking Brittania here) had the hornblocks half in and half out, to try and minimize frame flexing. B...

Re: Coal Issues

Some thing's don't scale well- in full size, to light a coal fire, the descriptions I have (mostly Scotch Marine) are to start with a decent wood fire (up to about 16" by a full stove kind of fire), and then add coal around the outside of it, get the coal alight, then spread the lit coal on more co...

Re: 3/4"Kozo A3.

So going back to my originally question, are there only 2 A3 engines that have been built that are successful runners? Not a good ratio of built to running. Think there are many hundreds started, where people got burnt out on making the tender, ever before getting to the locomotive! Kozo is incredib...

Re: MLS International Meet

Steve, sorry to have missed you - went to MLS today.

Can verify that Bernie's 0-4-0 was ok, didn't even have to push him around the track, like I usually have to do. (joking) (...well, then again, maybe not!)

Dave Powell did indeed steam his little Minnie again today. Fun little machine.

Re: 2016 Small Scale meet @ St Croix RR July 7-10

Good luck with the small scales meet.

I really enjoyed the NJLS one; there was a lot of interest in the smaller scales - bigger may be better, but smaller can be less work and more fun. (all scales are great)

Please post pics of your meet after it's complete.
