Re: Bridgeport mill spindle question
Sounds like a brake dragging to me to. In neutral is should spin freely by hand with no restrictions. Also are you sure you are getting it all of the way into neutral and not getting in between neutral and high or low? If so, you can adjust it. That could be where some of your head noise is coming f...

Re: Bridgeport input power question
If you have a 10 horse RPC, you should be able to tie into it and run the mill off of that also. That is what I would do, but if you don't want to do that, then you may want to go with a VFD. THat way you will have variable speed plus not have to listen the RPC run. I have an RPC for my Lagun mill, ...

Re: would you guys buy this mill?
For home use, I would say "no" to a horizontal mill all to the limited abilities of one. They are handy in a factory type of area, for production work, but for home use and wanting to make all sorts of different items, I would save up some more coin and find a good used Vertical mill, like...

There's enough pics online that you know what...

I know this answer is way late, and I am curious as to what the OP found out, but my guess is the cutter comp was wrong.

Re: Surface Ripple
With a consistent pattern like you are getting, are you absolutely sure you are not in a threading mode. Check the leadscrew, and make sure you are not in a threading mode. I know that on our Le Blond lathe, a few of the other guys have done it. The lead screw is engaged but when it ran too fast of ...

Loosen the three bolts where the top half of the head assembly bolts together and shift it a small amount. These are the three bolts around where the Quill Feed handle engages and 120 degrees from that one. Sometimes if they are not real tight and you accidently have a wreck it will shift the head a...
