Re: Cinder Traps

I used A mesh pencil holder like you can buy at any office supply store, drill 4 holes in it to run bolts into it up against the stack to hold in place. Total cost 5$, total time about 15 minutes, Iv/e been using it for years.

Re: What Size Anthracite?

I was using quarter sized pieces of anthracite and not doing very well on it's own, but I found If I mixed it with a softer coal to keep it burning I had a hotter fire that lasted longer, I'm running an Invicta with a 4"x4" firebox though, So that could be affecting my outcome.

Expanding copper tubes with rubber washers

I did a subject search on this and have rear a bunch of posts, but I'm still a little fuzzy. My plans are to expand 1/2" type K copper tubing in my Fitchburg Northern boiler. My tube sheets are 1/2" thick and there are 20 tubes. I have found rubber washers that I think will work and I have...

Re: LSB 8000

I run my de-humidifier into 5 gallon water bottles and run home made distilled water, it essentially costs me nothing because I am running the de-humidifier anyway and during the summer I can fill 5 gallons in 2 days. Since running distilled water I have had no foaming issues, the inside of my boile...

Re: 1-1/2" Scale Figures

Most art supply stores will have wooden figures with joints in 6", 8", 10" and 12" sizes. The 10" guy is a nice 6 ft scale engineer, though you would have to put a face on him and clothes:)
