Re: Boiler Kits from A. J. Reeves

Before buying the kit from Reeves it would be worth contacting GB boilers (also in the UK) the owner worked for Reeves making their boilers for several years before starting his own business. I believe he has the formers for this particular boiler and his prices are very competetive. Unfortunately I...

Re: Foundry Pattern Making

After retirement I decided to carry on with loco parts which I cast and machine in my ...

Re: Metallurgy of Steam Engines

Another point that has not been mentioned is the fact that brass , red or yellow and most bronzes are readily soldered with soft or hard solders. Aluminium is not easy to solder (yes it can be done but not as easily) .A beginner , who is probably cost conscious , will almost certainly need to repair...

Re: Foundry Pattern Making

What scale cylinder pattern and what casting method ? the requirements for greensand casting will be different from investment.
The advent of 3D cad software and 3D printing have made a big impression on traditional pattern making.

I think the question " why doesn't someone in the US build a good 3 in 1" should be "why doesn't anyone build a good 3 in 1 " Lets face it with CAD and CNC it doesn't matter where the factory is , USA or China , UK or India , the product will be the same , When the machine tool c...
