Re: R-8 end mill holders vs collets

The end mills in a collet, from the forces on it when milling, will sometimes become loose with the danger of messing up the part. Collets can't get a good bite on a hardened end mill. Best to use a regular end mill holder. Just my opinion.

Re: Brake lines on newer(?) cars

Both your answers are correct. It is for expansion and vibration and the extra loops do get rid of extra heat. Since there is no compression to hold back on hills any more, you have to ride the brake which heats up the fluid. Best ya can do is put the loops back in when replaceing.

Re: Hit Miss Engine

As for the cast iron liner. How about checking a heavy equiptment dealer. When they rebuild big diesels the old liner may still be usable for a hit and miss engine. And they will usally give them away. Also there are the liner distributors. Do an online search and you should find something.

What do you think of my new gage block set?

Yes by all means they should go back and you should get a refund. You mentioned that "she" said they was in good shape. I have found when buying on e-Bay most sellers don't have a clue as to what "shape" what they are selling is supposed to be in to be usable.

Glad no one was hurt. How did you get it out of the house or did coming thru the window kill it?

Floor tile for steam plant layout?

I would think the local Lowes store would have tile that small. In the tile section you will find decorator tile for kitchen or bath wall that should be around that size.

boats

Never owned a boat, wanted to but never got around to it. I have heard they are expensive to keep up and own, a little like building a home machine shop. No maybe not that expensive.
