Re: Doug Massie's Northern

The shorty tenders were on the Lima built B&A hudsons since they didn't have pans on that division.

Re: Doug Massie's Northern

Hello Jack, Any of my 3/4 or 1" engines with a tender around 14" and less in length, the engine is run long arm. Above that, I use a reach rod for the throttle only. All other valves including the Johnson bar are long armed too. None of my throttles have a quadrant so they are simple push ...

Hey Larry,
Is it true that they had to change the name of that interlocking cause the German engineers on the NH kept stopping there?

Re: Might try widening an LGB loco to 3/4" scale. Anyone seen that done?

I am encouraging the guy Dave. To get involved with a club where he can get information and "schooling" on what needs to be done and what to avoid. If you are in it for the long haul, then put some effort into it and learn from those who know the ropes. I did the mamod thing too when I was...

If you are not a member of a local club, I would suggest maybe joining one. Before you work on a riding train like that, work on maintaining the track that you will be using. If after doing that for a while, you still feel like building one, volunteer to help out on a few run days. This will allow y...

That sure is a lot easier Keith. But then again, I had trouble switching one car out of a one car siding!

Made a video of the last run of the season. Not the best picture quality but not bad for an old Beta camera. Look up Doug Massie's Northern and it should come up.

Doug Massie's Northern

The last run of the season on the Central went to Doug Massie's engine. Info on this loco can be found on the IBLS site. Perfect weather for a quiet "LeMans" run. Now it is back to the shop to work on projects for next season.

Look up Miniature Railway (1947). This video may show the engine you are asking about.

I am glad everything went well with the track and you had a good time. The two engines you brought would certainly be called "famous" in the live steam circles. This was also the first time in several years that I ran at night. Good times for sure!

Re: Harry Peotter memories

I bet the number on his locomotive tells a story. The only guys that may still be around who were there at the track and knew him would be Lee Whalen and George White of Michigan.
