Re: Any drawings for 2.5" scale Mallet Moguls out there?
Roger Goldmann has prints: Go to https://modelsteamengines.tripod.com/drawings/by_wh.htm The Uintah Mallet is listed in 2.5" scale. I have a set of prints. It is just the side view and front view. It's a BIG engine. You might want to look for Tom Artzberger with Hartford Shops out of Hartford, ...

Re: Clishay Lathe size
If you haven't already, get the Clishay project book by Village Press. The January 1978 installment used wheels of a size range from 4" to 4.375" diameter having a 3/4" thickness. Also, you'll need 3/4" C/R round stock for the axles. Venders change over the years. Try eBay, Littl...

Re: Sheet metal project in Fusion 360
You've got no disagreement from me Bill. Below is what is my latest screen shot in Fusion looks like: plymouth cab revised v13.jpg It looks clean in Fusion, but when I exported the fusion file to a dwg file to be viewed in AutoCAD mobile, there are a few extra "artifacts" that will have to...

Re: Sheet metal project in Fusion 360
Thanks for the information. I think my post might of had TMI. Fusion 360 was a free down load. I was doing 2D work in 3D software. My training on AutoCAD was over a decade ago but got rusty since I haven't' been using my CAD skills. Tried other CAD shareware but it was confusing. A 2D CAD program wo...

Sheet metal project in Fusion 360
I downloaded and installed Fusion 360 on my Win 10 laptop a while back but haven't put it to work until recently. In the interim, found a book published by Make: Fusion 360 for Makers by Lydia Sloan Cline and bought it on Amazon. Over a decade ago, I completed classes in AutoCAD at a local community...

Re: LALS Fall 2018 Meet
Here's the info I found in the LALS June 2018 booster:
".... the date of the 2018 Fall Meet which will be held September 15 and 16. "
Some folks get there a few days early to get parking for their RVs.
See you there...

Thinking of abrasive: Sounds like MoM would make a good lapping compound?

Re: Koster powered trucks
I had a couple of those motors. They were re-purposed surplus Westinghouse aircraft starter motors. 24 Vdc series wound. The motors were rewired to split off the armature from the field. Idea was to introduce a back EMF voltage (think reverse the polarity of the field) using a motor controller circu...

Re: LALS Film 1967
These older movies are timeless. To see LALS before track expansions, all the trees and shrubbery went in. It's just a wild guess, but suspect the UP Northern was from Chet Peterson at RR supply and the GS4 Daylight was Dick Priest's (Little Engines?). Haven't heard from IBLS in a long time... Have ...

Re: Starting over on a new CliShay project
Thanks for the information and the links. I've got these below cylinders sitting around. Told they may be older Allen Model castings. Judging by the other parts that came with them, aluminum, these may be part of a Mogel. KIMG0550.JPG Had these for over a year now, sitting in my parts box KIMG0552.J...

Re: Starting over on a new CliShay project
Lately, everyone has been quisy about coal fired boilers. It'll most likely be propane fired.
Working on the frame design. Looks like I can fit a 12" diameter boiler on this project. A 14" boiler would possibly allow for a bigger engine w/bigger bore.

Re: Starting over on a new CliShay project
Hi Harlock. Haven't been up Tehachapi way in almost a year. It was Fair time in the Antelope Valley last year when I came out to hear Mike Massee talk on the SP narrow gauge RR that ended in the Owen's Valley. Found some interesting boiler links tonight. http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?549781-S...
