Re: 2.5" scale "Fulton" 4-4-0 castings now available from Allen Models

How close is this Fulton design to the Eureka of Dan Markoff? According to Curtis Ferrington, although the same 8-18 series, the Eureka, Sonoma etc. were larger and heavier than the engines made from plan #9 like these. Although I am sure these can be adapted to produce a reasonable looking facsimi...

Re: Fire to crown sheet distance

For Marty Burners / Locoparts / Solarflo burners, they need as much head room as you can give them, put the manifold down at the mug ring. The commercial burners are designed for 18" of headroom for complete combustion, but they obviously do work in our locomotives regardless. Slot and hole burners ...

Larry Fisher

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but Larry Fisher of Fisher Detail Foundry has been hospitalized with Stage IV cancer, which came on suddenly and spread within a matter of weeks. He is currently receiving treatment and is in a lot of pain. A friend of theirs has set up a GoFundMe to cover med...

Re: 2.5" scale "Fulton" 4-4-0 castings now available from Allen Models

Good looking engine and congrats on making it available again. Questions: would you cast the drivers out of ductile iron? Better for off road excursions... Second: any time frame on drawings? Good work! Mountaineer. Allen Models only does grey / cast iron at the moment. For heavy running on steel t...

Re: Model Steam Pressure Gauges

One other interesting thing. I see a lot of requests here for a 250psig version. Since we are not making our own bourdon tubes here that is a lot harder. It seems virtually no one out there makes a gauge in that range as a starting point to go off of. So the options are 160psig, 200, and 300. If th...

Re: 2.5" scale "Fulton" 4-4-0 castings now available from Allen Models

I am pleased to see this locomotive back on the market. It (or a close relative) was last offered by Railroad Warehouse in Roundhouse, Nevada. I saw the engine there under construction and thought it had great possibilities. RussN This is the same set of patterns that were previously offered by Rai...

Re: McCormick Railway Park Museum machine shop

that's a new exhibit since I was last there. I've also been through the railroad shops for the 15" gauge. A lot of Bill Daney treasure hidden back there.

Re: Complete set of Fitchburg Northern Castings

I have acquired the missing pieces for the second set of arch bar trucks from Steve Alley and they are now as complete as the first, with the axles, side frame, missing bolster pedestal etc.
