Half-nut issues

Thanks Harold, I'm guilty of overlooking some of those things for sure. I'll start by checking for any buildup in the half-nut threads.

It's Likely the Table, Not the Nuts

I have a BusyBee B2229 equivalent to one of these and it's a real PITA because the slots are an off-size and worse, when I did find some quality, N.A. made tee-nuts, I discovered that the distance between the table surface and the wide part of the slot is undersized so the non-threaded part of the t...

Is This a Split-Nut (Half-Nut?) Problem?

Hi all, I have a BusyBee B2229 3-in-1, which is pretty much the same machine as the Grizzly G7929 and the Harbor Freight 44142. I likely have less than 50 hours on the machine cutting plastic. There is a growing problem with the X-axis auto feed "jumping out of gear" part way through a cut...

Rusting Tools

Hmm, so that's my problem. Thanks much Harold.

EDIT: Oops this was meant as a reply to the previous thread about synthetic toolboxes. I'm getting rustier than my tools. That's tools with an "S" guys.

The word plastic conjures up images of "toys" for many people. You might be pleasantly surprised by UHMWPE assuming you can allow the small added clearance needed to compensate for the higher expansion coefficient. Delrin is also used in many H-D applications like bearings and it machines ...

Unknown Antique Lathe & Knee Milling Attachment

Hi, Does anyone recognize this antique lathe and very interesting (knee type?) milling attachment? It belongs to an 84 year old fellow in a retirement home. His son is clearing out his things and says it is an "IBM" He calls it a wood and metal lathe. Notice there is no leadscrew o...

Yes that's the one, sorry I forgot to post the link. Links: http://www.grizzly.com/products/9-x-32-Gear-Head-Mill-Drill-with-Stand/G0484 http://www.grizzly.com/products/Mill-Drill-Tapping-Machine/G0519 I figure the addition of the stand pretty much covers the $200 difference. However, the X axis pow...

New BIG Griz Dovetail Mill for CNC?

Hi all, Any thoughts on whether this new Grizzly mill would be a good candidate for any existing CNC kits although I guess that custom stepper adaptors might be needed if this is actually something new on the market in any colour. Is this bigger/smaller than the Rong-Fu and other 45 Series machines ...

Try Lee Valley

Suggest you send the pics to Lee Valley Tools head office in Ottawa asking the same question. They're pretty much the North American experts on specialty wood planes, etc. and take an interest in the unusual.
