Grit gets into everything. Double shielded bearings are used to reduce friction. My super expensive Swiss drill sharpener used them. They failed in about eighteen months. You should use sealed, not shielded bearings.
Dust and grit will get into shielded bearings.

SomewhereI I maybe able to find drawings for an Atlantic Works rail road shovel.
A model of this was built many years ago.
The model was written up in one of the magazines and the plans were available for sale.

Not completely, I made new bell castings. The bell is cast in real bell bronze 80% copper, 20% tin. That sounds much better then conventional silicon bronze. I had to purchase an eighty pound ingot of bell bronze. Now I need to have more cast.

Many older machine tool are wired with rubber insulated wire, there is a cotton braid protecting the rubber. Oil and heat are the enemies of rubber. What are you doing that requires pipe? Steel or copper tubing is much eaiser to bend.

I am presently out of the Pyle-National head light. I have ordered more castings and I am working on other headlight parts. I will have the headlight back in stock in a few weeks

I have for sale the stainless steel hardware formerly sold by Real Trains.
I am also working on making more Archbar trucks.
Other trucks wil be made as time allows.
