Re: fractional hp motor wire repair

Many older machine tool are wired with rubber insulated wire, there is a cotton braid protecting the rubber. Oil and heat are the enemies of rubber. I am presently overhauling a Do-All band saw, circa 1942. Both the saw wiring and the motor leads were crumbling Replacing motor lead wires is not expe...

What are you doing that requires pipe? Steel or copper tubing is much eaiser to bend.

There is nothing on the market better the Jim Kreiders Berkshire.
I wanted to let somebody else mention the Berkshire first.
Best castings, best drawings, best support.
Jim, do not let this praise go to your head!

Re: Mosley Pyle Generator Eye Bolt Needed

I have both the toggle bolt and the thumb nut. They are made from the original Mosely tooling.
both the nut and bolt are threaded 00-90.
Either part is $5.00 a lot of money for something that small but they are a spot of bother to thread.

Re: Future of Superscale Locomotive

You are correct.
How many people are building steam locomotives in 1.5-1.6"scale?
Ask Jim Kreider how many people have started to build his Berkshire, the best detailed and documented engine ever made?
Jim, do not be overwhelmed by my endorsement.

Re: Beryllium copper

BC can be formed soft and heat treated for spring temper or hardness. Unlike most nonferrous metals + BC is a good electric conductor.
I do not think that BC is a hazardous as pure beryllium, not sure material data safety information

Re: brown and sharpe

Sorry, colored case hardening involves cyanide. Very difficult and expensive to use or dispose of. Starrett no longer uses that process. Does any manufacture use that process now? The purchase, use and disposal of many chemical now involves permits, licenses, insurance, and inspections. A nearby pla...
