Square Head Bolts
What length square head bolts do people want to use. When a machine is setup and tooled changing the length is pushing a button. I am planning to make some screws in 0-80 and 1-72 sizes. Other sizes could also be made.

You could also try filling the tube with wax or sand.
It would be best if the tube was supported on the outside when you form it

Re: Silver soldering verses compression fittings
I have installed many Swage-Loc fittings, several thousand in fact, mostly on stainless tubing, never had a failure.
They look a little lumpy, but they are the best.

Re: Hydrostatic Lubricator
Hydrostatic lubricators work best with non compounded oil.
Compounded oil emulsifies in the lubricator.

Re: Tank car ends
If you purchase tank heads get the non code variety, just as good for hobby applications and less costly the code heads.

Pack them in a Large Flat Rate Post Office shipping box
Seventy pounds pounds is the maximum weight.
I would recommend double boxing the shipment and use lots of filament shipping tape.

Re: Front mounted bell, inchandahalf.
There were different styles, at least some of the Berkshires were delivered with a swing yoke front mounted bell, when these mounts failed they were replaced with shop made welded fixed non swinging mounts, the bell were operated with an air driven clapper inside the bell. Berkshires delivered durin...

Re: M0-6 Pyle National
There are design errors in the Mosely patterns which I can recognize. If I saw pictures of your castings I might be be to tell if the castings are copies or made from other masters and molds. I have excellent hard molds for the detail parts and I have had those parts made. The problem is the four ma...

Re: M0-6 Pyle National
If Little Engines is selling MO-6 castings they were copied from Mosely parts. I have the master patterns and molds. Some of the molds are unworkable in their present design. I had some casting made and experenced a failure rate of 75%. The master patterns and molds need extensive modification. This...

Re: Furnace Silver Soldering
What about furnace brazing an entire copper boiler.
Clean the copper.
Assemble the boiler with some screws or rivets.
Furnace braze the entire boiler in a reducing atmosphere to prevent further oxidation.
Your thoughts and opinions are welcome.
