Re: First tune-up: Charter Arms 38 Undercover

Boy! This one turned acrimonious and confrontational in record time. Personally, I'd never count on an autoloader unless I was carrying another gun to back IT up. For the record, when my wife got her CHP, she tried several autoloaders; as it happens, all Rugers - an LCP, an LC9, and my Mk 3. She doe...

Re: First tune-up: Charter Arms 38 Undercover

Coming in late on this one... I believe you can get model-specific springs from Wolff Springs https://www.gunsprings.com/ -- IIRC, they sell heavy and light springs. Not expensive, either -- the shipping cost probably will exceed the parts. Another thing to check out is the headspace (between the re...

Re: Source for Tripan cutoff blades ??

Interesting coincidence... LMS has a special on that adapter that holds 1/2" cutoff blades, and in turn fits in a 3/8" holder.
Today's October 6 2016, and the deal is good until the 11th. -Pete

Re: Source for Tripan cutoff blades ??

Thanks, Spro... I'd missed that discussion entirely. (I've been off-forum for the past year, tangled up with moving.) -Pete

Re: Source for Tripan cutoff blades ??

Too bad; the Tripan stuff is as nice as I've seen. I'm lucky insofar as my V10 came with a full outfit of Tripan holders, including a couple for 1/2" shanks. As far as I was concerned, though, the price on those Tripan-original cutoff blades put them outside my reach anyway. Has anyone ever posi...

Re: Source for Tripan cutoff blades ??

Yes, I actually found them from an eBay seller, a bit less than two years ago. (Took a long time, didn't it?) They were pretty cheap, too, only about U$3,25 each, plus about $4 shipping from England to the US. I bought 10 of them; they look good (although they don't have the "v-groove" in ...

Joe Bergamo ?

I just got a bogus e-mail purporting to come from Joe Bergamo (Plaza Tools). I didn't follow the link, but it was something like "indianlawyer...."

Forewarned is forearmed.

Happy Boxing Day !!

Re: Lubricating a Dunlap drill press

I recall when I first started driving and working on cars -- around 1960 -- the local Sears store carried both Craftsman and Dunlap wrenches etc. The salesclerk said "the main difference is that the Dunlap tools don't have the "forever warranty" that Craftsman tools have". Consid...

Re: Lubricating a Dunlap drill press

BINGO !! Thanks, Steve ! Vintagemachinery.com had the manual for essentially the same tool with a one-digit difference in the number -- mine is 103.23621, and the manual is for 103.23620 -- physical appearance is exactly the same, and the manual had the lube directions. I think I hit all the oil-hol...

Lubricating a Dunlap drill press

I have an elderly Dunlap benchtop drill press. (Photo attached, I hope.) Generally I'd prefer it to any of the cheesy imports I've seen. But the spindle has been a little sticky lately, and I can't figure out how to lubricate it. The quill is no problem... the splines are exposed in the pulley hub, ...

Re: Destroying ammunitions

Shelf life? I've recently fired some Remington .22LR that I bought nearly 40 years ago. Works fine. And to stretch the timeframe a bit more, back around 40-45 years I briefly had a Remington Rolling Block in 7mm Mauser, and I routinely shot ammo that had been made before WW1. IIRC I had a few rare m...
