Re: Buying a new parting tool

With parting tools its all about what your comfortable with. I used to dread using them until I bought a insert type parting tool. From then its been a breeze which probably says more about my grinding abilities. Only thing I would say is your speed seems slow to me on 1.5" I would be nearer 50...

Re: Live Steam Clubs in Europe?

The answer used to be the South but Greece , Spain Italy are all on a par with middle europe now. Scandinavia country's are very expensive due to high taxes low population density's and big state ...

Re: Alco 3rd Cylinder Valve Linkage

I might be able to help in the near future. I am researching Gresley's conjugated valve gear for a friend, in the National Railway Museum in York. I have a list of possible drawings that may be useful just waiting for the NRM to get back to work after Christmas.

Re: Quick change tool post

I have a Aloris BXA on a similar size machine but 7.5hp. I had the work come out once, it broke the scroll plate in the chuck and snapped the the tool post center bolt. The tool was fine, tip broke and my blood pressure hit an all time high. So i would say 5/8 are fine.

Re: Perseverance lands on Mars!

Watched it live , well as live as it could be given the delay here in the UK. You have to give NASA credit when it comes to landing on Mars they have it nailed. The landing was like one of thoses long journey, time filling questions. If you had to land on Mars what would be the most complicated way ...

Re: Tormach PCNC 1100

I have a PCNC 1100 Ser2 which i bought second hand and its been fine. Only issues have been with the X limit switch sticking. I added a cover along the table front edge to help with this but still have a couple of spares just in case. I probably wouldn't call the price generous but you are getting t...

Re: SolidWorks vs. Fusion360

I used SW and its great a very comprehensive package and very easy to pick up. What i didn't like was the $1200 a year to keep a seat. Up to F360 there wasn't a good alternative at least I never found one. My cheaper version of SW didn't have any CAM either so i was also paying for that software as ...
