Re: strange intermittent power problem

definitely bad contactor inside the switch/breaker. (infinite resistance on one when closed) this part is quite hard to find so far as it has a shunt trip attached to it. still polling our aftermarket suppliers for something on it. japanese printing press. searched e-bay and found one that had just ...

Re: strange intermittent power problem

well it did indeed start to act up again. this time i skipped the spray-on contact cleaner and removed the wires from the switch and polished them and the lugs with an eraser. i needed to use an eraser just to reach them as the lugs are recessed inside a space maybe 1/2" diameter and about 1&qu...

Re: strange intermittent power problem

maybe they go on some type of rewinder for final packaging and are supposed to be pull at this point in production. when i worked in the the paper converting business we obtained huge rolls and cut them into sheeets. we would find what the trade called "pasters", which were basically splic...

Re: strange intermittent power problem

the wires and terminal ends always have proper voltage to them. it's the connections on the switch itself that lose continuity. but then as i stated, it has been fine so far.

Re: strange intermittent power problem

well this machine has not turn off in alarm mode since i cleaned the connections with spray cleaner. my guess is it may do it again and then i will remove the srews and wires and thouroughly clean with emery and apply anti-oxide paste. they are somewhat hard to access, so until/if any future problem...

strange intermittent power problem

anyone here ever heard of a three-phase main power switch on a machine giving intermittent power because of oxidized connections? this is 208 three phase on a 30 amp circuit. the machine was acting whacko on start-up, but would eventually keep running after it had its little "fit" when pow...

Re: ford taurus waterpump gasket and timing chain cover gask

I do respect the idea of using measurable torque applied to the bolts, but that said I "snugged them up good". Talking to a few respected mechanics lead me to do this. they admitted that there are torques assigned to most engine covers and such, but also acknowledged that most do not use a...

Re: ford taurus waterpump gasket and timing chain cover gask

ready to reinstall everything. how bad is too bad on a pitted timing chain cover? it has some barely visible pits near one of the water ports to the engine. will rtv be best here, or should i use the stinky permatex sealer? should it set 24 hours before pressure? torque wrench really needed for cove...

ford taurus waterpump gasket and timing chain cover gasket

I am in the middle of the above repair on my sons 2003 ford taurus. i have the top clear of assorted parts and the water pump removed. i was about to remove the crankshaft pulley and it will not budge. it has four bolts on it and the balancer has one large one. what scared me was something online me...

Re: Hosed the keyboard

go one step more and disassemble the keys. they are captive on most boards, so they won't all fall out. then you can clean them with lots of warm water and air dry. some of the contactors respond well to pink pearl erasers. just rub them to remove any oxide from them. i use this method and my keys n...
