Re: Kirkwall Central

Great!

How long and minimum radius?

Does this mean you won't be visiting us at the NJLS any more?

Re: 3/4" 2-6-0 whereabouts

Hi Folks,

Anyone have an idea where this loco, built by Richard Schelfo, is currently located? I'd like to make contact with the owner.

Thanks,
Rich Garich

Did they happen to mention the source of the bearing?

Job opening

While looking for a new position for myself, I came across this: http://jobview.monster.com/MACHINE-SHOP-MANAGER-UNIVERSITY-OF-WASHINGTON-REQUISITION-63994-Job-Seattle-WA-US-88719254.aspx For those of you in need: Good Luck! "Coal Crusher"

Has anyone come up with a device to crush coal into smaller sizes? I'm running a smaller 3/4" loco and it definitely seems to prefer pea sized chunks. A hammer is effective, but not really too efficient.

Thanks,

Re: Maine State Museum's "Lion"

Great pictures! I bet the person you took them for is going to be really happy with the quality and the details shown. Of course, since he doesn't have prior board approval, he won't be able to smile since someone has already done one of those.

Steve:

I believe that Tom Zambreno, of the Illinois Live Steamers, has at least one of the locos. I don't know how often it gets exercised, though.

NJLS Fall Meet

Don't forget the upcoming NJLS Fall Meet - Oct 3/4/5.

HiLine track in good shape - was on it 2 weeks ago.
1" ground has new signals installed.
1 1/2" continues with upgrading.

Gas is $3.32/gal. at my favorite place. $3.50 or so everywhere else.

See you there!
