Re: Creative version of a 3 phase switch?
you dont see many anymore but consider its operation in a building with a corner grounded delta that third leg would be grounded.??? The corner (third leg) is grounded only at the transformer - the wire to the receptacle/device is still considered a current carrying conductor (and it is) by code. Y...

Re: Strong weldable Aluminum.
You will have this problem anytime you weld Al. It was probably T6 before you welded. However.. AL is precipitation hardening; in 30 days it will be back to T4 if you do nothing. If that's not good enough, you will need to redo the heat treat.

Re: Looking for a material comparable to die cast zinc
I've machined a lot of 7075; it's amazingly strong. Look for 7075-T651 (common). You don't want the annealed or normalized state.

Re: Booster transformer 3 PH. hook up
Are you sure you really need them? Even if your machine motor(s) isn't specifically rated for "208" running a 220/230/240 volt motor won't present a problem unless you are running it right at maximum for a sustained period, and even then, probably not. Millions of such motors are running j...

Re: What to Do With 25000-RPM Themac Dental Lathe?
The ac/dc is just a universal motor - typical brushed motor like most power tools. It can be speed controlled with a cheap router control. You could use a light dimmer, but you won't get any feedback from the back emf so regulation suffers.

Re: Running 230V Motor on 250V?
I couldn't think of any reason why it would be a problem, but then I started wondering why they would bother marking 230V and 240V differently if it made no difference. Easy, but obscure and misunderstood. USA motors are marked 230/460 because there is an assumed voltage drop in feeders from the no...

Re: Running copper, installing new outlets
You're also not supposed to run "romex" (your 10-2 cable) in conduit. Run separate thnn wires (2 black or one black and red, and one green or bare) and you'll be code compliant.

Re: Can Capped Jugs of Acid Cause Rust?
Mine's is stored outside. I've had bad problems in the past with it inside. My understanding.. Muriatic acid is made many ways, but the cheap way is high pressure chlorine gas onto water. The Chlorine atoms will get out of almost any container, and aggressively attach to anything iron. Once "ru...

That's what I did. I have a 30 amp (10hp) unit - never looked back - better quality then utility power (which I can't get here either).
