Re: Fire arch design for propane
Very interested in your burner. Any point in doing what Roy Johnson did with his Four Aces NP 4-8-4 and use mesh nimonic (or maybe hasteloy- can’t recall) to hold pea gravel sized firebrick in the flames as a radiant heat intensifier? I recall the stack temp on his northern was very low compared wit...

Re: Volstro Milling Head
Thanks for info Rich.
Yup, Don Young’s Mountaineer is a very nice design. Have done a small amount of maintenance on the original in Wales. Also do have a set of castings for the 3.5” gauge version but other projects are getting done first...

Don’t understand why wrong forum? Sure it isn’t a live steam model, but I’ve used mine for locomotive frames etc. Is it that machine tool sales should be elsewhere?

Re: In Memory of - Richard Ulin
Alcowest bought most of Richard’s drawings and patterns for his 2.5” scale designs. Not sure if they also bought the design for the Climax?
In addition, they have the patterns and drawings for Tom Miller’s K-36
Enjoyed talking with Richard, smart, very productive, decent man.

Re: Brass case 0-15 PSI Gauge wanted
Just curious, what is the intended purpose for a 0-15 psi?

Re: Doug Massie's Northern
For what it’s worth- I’ve spent years running 3/4” scale engines on an elevated line with 6 wheel Commonwealth tender trucks. As long as there was some weight on other end of passenger car it is no problem to sit on very front of passenger car and reach cab controls. Have also done this with a Timki...

Don Young designed this Mini Lucky7. Could also be run on 3 1/2” gauge track with only a few new parts.

Why does a two cylinder loco have a 3 or 4 feed hydrostatic lubricator?
