Re: 3.5 inch Gauge Juliet

Cute just about covers it. That is not the standard boiler which has a steam dome about level with the front of the side tanks and a safety just in front of the cab. The cab and chimney are distinctly non-standard too, it has been narrow-gauge-ised (just invented a word I think) seems to sort of res...

Re: Sweet William steam locomotive discussion

Ben, I am not familiar with Sweet William but know of several Sweet Peas so assuming it is simply a larger version then the marine boiler is intended for coal firing as originally designed - there is precious little else here. Have you come across this page ? might give you some ideas. People seem t...

Re: The Future of Live Steaming

That Accucraft reference is a little strange since the Maxitrak Alice is a 2" scale model which, for a 2 foot gauge prototype makes it about 80% of the correct size - it was designed for 5" gauge and has presumably just been re-gauged for the US market. Pretty though, I'm slowly building t...

It's not definitive but it's a start:- Today, in the UK, the term 'gunmetal' is applied to a family of copper-based casting alloys containing between 2-11% tin and 1-10% zinc. Modified forms may contain, in addition, such elements as lead (up to 7%) and nickel (up to 6%) when the alloys are classifi...

I have Charlie's software and use it.
I suspect Harlock is right but I like to have my facts straight before going off on one so, can anybody give Charlie a 'heads up' or tell me how to?

Dockstader software on eBay

Does anyone have contact details for Charles Dockstader other than the email address on his site? I keep seeing his software for sale on eBay here in the UK claiming it is sold under license, if it is then fine, but I can't help suspecting it is some low life profiting from the work of one of the go...

Ben,

There is a pretty comprehensive list of suppliers here including those mentioned by Harry.

I can thoroughly recommend the forum linked from the homepage as well, if you come to need more detailed information.

Cheers, Andy

Thanks for the welcome guys, Fred, Waleswest looks quite a place, we had an RV (well VW camper) for 15 years and loved it. I have yet to point the camera at Juliet - nearly air chassis once I sort out valve timing, can't get my head around that Baker valve gear. The Hunslet is also camera shy but si...

New member intro

Hi all, I'm new here and had better introduce myself since apparently accounts get pulled if we don't post at least once and I'm sure I'm going to like it here. I'm Andy, live on the edge of the Lake District, North West England. I volunteered with full size live steam on the Festiniog, at Steamtown...
