Buffer, My lastest Project
I just finished building a pedestal buffer. I have a 1.5 HP motor with an 8 ribbed J profile Micro V belt powering it. I need to get a scotch brite wheel for it. I could use suggestion on the type of wheel to get for general work. Thanks.

Re: Help with a motor
Thanks for the input. I did take the back bell off and shined the points and cleaned the mechanic of the start switch. What is really throwing me is terminal number 5 without a post. The spade connector appears to have been connected to something. Is there something about a compressor connection to ...

Help with a motor
I recently bought a 2 HP Gould 230 V motor for peanuts, I may be left with the nuts. I do not have a wiring diagram. Enclosed are pictures of the specification label and the terminal block. There are 5 terminal ports labeled, 1 and 3 are empty, 2 and 4 have both post and spade connectors, 5 is just ...

Re: Ball Turning Jig
Mind is the up and over concept except I run the spindle in reverse and go down and over. I us the micro on the head to determine the diameter of the ball.

Ball Turning Jig
I have a couple projects coming up where I need to turn several balls. I decided it was time to build a ball turning jig. After some research I decided to build it around my mill boring head with a R8 arbor. I used a short piece of 1.5" crs and cut a R8 bore in it to accommodate the boring head...

Surgery Recovery Project
I have some serious heart problems as the result of two heart attacks years ago. I have needed hip replacement surgery for about three years but the cardiologist kept saying no. Well about a month ago they said go for it so on August first I had my left hip replaced and things seem great so far. I a...

Re: How do You Make a Belt Grinder Wheel?
I have made a number of 2 x 72 inch belt grinders for knife makers. I have one in my shop for general metal fabrication. Mine has a large drive wheel because I am using a 3ph 1100 rpm motor. http://www.thekilmerplace.com/beltgrinder.html

Re: Thoughts on $500 Belt Grinder?
I use my belt grinder every day. The old pedestal grinder does not see much use any more. I have a assortment of belts, 36 to 120 grit, so I am changing belts (it only takes seconds) depending on the task. 36 grit removes metal very fast. I sharpen drills and lathe bits on it. I have sold 7 or 8 of ...

How to Store Tooling
After 15 years owning this lathe, I have been working the past couple of weeks on making convenient storage racks for the tooling. Sometimes I think too much. Is there a right or wrong way to store lathe chucks and Face plates? Flat or on edge? Maybe it does not make a difference. Are there thoughts...

Adjusting the gibb on PM45 Mill.
I have a PM45 gear head mill with the dovetail on the square column. I like the mill and push it hard, most of my work is with steel. I realize this mill is not a Bridgeport. When I push it to its limit I get movement in the dovetail on the head and column. What is the best way of adjusting the gibb...
