I'll add my two cents worth. There is an old French (I think) movie called "The Wheel" in English - I forget the actual French title. It is a very good railroad movie and is silent as I recall.

Re: Walt Disney at Dick Jackson's 1" Scale Railroad
As we all know Dick Jackson's home was the first home of the Southern California Live Steamers and where Lawrence Hiney collaborated in the construction of Late Disney Animator Ollie Johnston's own 1" Scale 4-6-2 Pacific, La Canada Valley 515. Does anybody have an iDea where Dick Jackson's col...

Re: Moseley Steam Generaor
I'm very familiar with the Moseley Dyno. It is an alternator (AC) only. No brushes. Are you sure it's a Moseley? There should be a small lablel (F Moseley) and the top case "hinge" lugs will have a wire pin thru. The turbine rotor shaft will have a hex nut retaining the wheel. Thanks for ...

Moseley Steam Generaor
Hi All, I have a 1" scale O.S. 4 truck Shay. It has a 1 1/2" scale Moseley steam generator on it that has never worked since I bought the engine. I am just now getting around to looking at it. Are there any drawings available or some pictures of one disassembled. I looked at it today and c...

Piston Rings
Hi All, I'm rebuilding a small two cylinder Shay steam locomotive that uses two Stuart Turner #8 mill engines as power. The cylinder bore is 1" and the pistons have a 1/8" groove in them. I understand that this engine has been rebuilt once already. I found a very worn out O ring (pink colo...

Re: Loading etiquette
Good post Greg. We all need a reminder now and then. I've been on both ends of the problem loading and unloading. One impatient steamer actually yelled at 'my wife' while I was unloading 1" equipment at a dual gauge track. I've been offered help which (I try to) politely decline - been tossed o...

Re: Anyone Know This Pullman Car?
LL,
Thanks for the information. That matches with what I got from Joe Devlin. I think Jack Sessums built 3 axle trucks for them that worked well. Movie prop cars had lousy trucks.
So I'm sure my friend has one of those cars.
Cheers,
JohnY

Anyone Know This Pullman Car?
Hi All, I have a friend who has this 1" scale Pullman car with 3 axle trucks. It is of molded fiberglass construction. The trucks are stamped "orange valley rr". He has seen some similar ones on Discover live steam.com for sale from the East coast. He believed there were three of them...

Re: Waushakum LS 27 August 2011
Hi All, I noticed in the Waushakum post that there were a few crossings on the line. Does anyone have, or can anyone provide a birds eye view picture of their typical crossing? I need to make a crossing on my 1" railroad and would like to see how the guard rails and track is constructed. The on...

Re: Running on Propane
Hi All, I'll get some pictures posted. FWIW, the burner consists of a manifold with four 1/2" diameter tubes attached, each tube about about 5" long. This assembly is attached to the burner pan and points forward and up about 20°. A few inches away from the end of the burners is this stain...
