Well done , Bill ! Your tool looks good and the results are the pudding . As others have said about the form of the finish , it is to ones own preference . I prefer a full depth knurl as that looks the best to me and also fulfills the function of a good grip surface . A flat knurl increases diameter...

Bill ,you could leave the steel at 7/8 " and adjust your plans accordingly . When I made mine , I made some mods to the plans to make it work .

Spro , find a hobby shop that has silicon fuel line . That stuff will take any kind of liquids . I use it with anything ........ gas , ethanol , even methanol ..... It will last . Most shops have it in bulk rolls and different diameters and ....... much cheaper .

Bill , they will work just fine in a V-type holder . A better method is to use a boring bar holder in a QCTP set up . I have sleeves made for 3/4" down to 1/4" . They tend to end up w/ SHCS marks that have to be stoned down to fit in the Boring head on the mill when used in the V-holder .

Thread form , provided the tool bit is ground properly , will be determined by using the fishtail gauge carefully . Very carefully ! That is determined by the tool, and if it is set on center, or not. 29º or 29-1/2º does not matter as long as it is less that the 1/2 of the 60º , for US thread angle ...
