Re: Radio Control for an RMI engine?

Good place to look for components. A friend of mine has just set up his new Switcher RC. Everything came from this place including motor controller.

I would prefer to help the cause of letting others to be aware and not be taken by someone that you can`t Believe or Trust. No I am not going to remove that information. Maybe my good experience with Bob Snippe was beca...

Maybe something has happened to Bob, accident, sickness ?? Maybe Mary Knox would know, they are both in Flint.
Still a bummer, you count on something for so long and then it don't happen.

Re: Home Railway Journal - relaunching in 2014

The magazine was sold for the assumption of subscription fulfillment by the new publisher. I did not receive any cash from the sale and did not walk away with any profit. In fact, I paid off all debt from the startup of the magazine so the new publisher, whoever that was to be, would have a clean s...

At least it's not being scrapped. An iconic engine of the past will get shiny face lift which will visually restore it to its day of glory whether there's a fire in the boiler or not.

Re: Wabash 573 Photos

That's a bunch of pictures. Thanks for taking the time with it John. Some friends of mine were on vacation while I was building my Allen Mogul and got me a few pics at that time. I had noticed that Allen's plans did not show a walk plate in front of the cylinders over the lead truck wheel. Most of t...

Re: Driving wheels: press on axle then machine or vice vers

I used Loctite 680 on my drivers and had to take one off because it was out of quarter. I had a HELL OF A TIME getting it off using a rosebud axle clamped in the vise. Had to make a step key of 4 thou to get it in quarter. I figured if it was that hard to take off the axle it wasn't going to just fa...

Re: Driving wheels: press on axle then machine or vice vers

I machined the wheels, cut keyways, and Loctite 680'd them onto the axles. No pressing. Had to remove one and had a hell of a time doing it. Leave 2 thousands clearance for Loctite.

Re: Allen Mogul Smoke Box design.

When I built my Allen Mogul I fabricated two plates that would overlap each other. I sealed everything up with wood stove high temp caulk, black stuff. Worked fine as far as I know.
