Re: Standard Modern or Sout Bend 10?

The South Bend has a plain taper attachment whereas the Standard Modern has a superior telescopic attachment and is a gear head machine and the South bend is belt driven. Standard Modern is a more modern design. Same price, go for the Standard Modern. I have used them and they are great. All SMs hav...

Re: Rotary valved engines

In the early 30s the Aspin engine had a rotary valve rotating in the cylinder head with a port in the rotary valve. Re: Delrin bushing

I still say use wood and soak in oil after machining. Way cheaper than anything else and will last as long as plastic.

Re: Delrin bushing

I have actually used wood for that kind of application. Use maybe birch and after machining soak it in linseed oil. make a shoulder bushing so it doesn't fall out.

Re: Replacement blades for small metal bandsaw

Thanks Ken. I broke a blade yesterday, bevel ground it and silver brazed it in a guide I made. So far it's cut 50 sq inches without a bump or a hitch. 4 1/2" dia Durabar come off within .003 parallel So the blade welder is no longer needed. Peter
