Re: Toggle Switch for VFD Power Supply?

I picked up a 60 Amp disconnect at Lowes or Home Depot and installed it for the 3 HP VFD on my mill, and again for the 3 HP VFD on my lathe. So far, so good.

Re: Rust removal

I'd use electrolytic rust removal. I have a 55 gallon plastic drum filled with water plus a cup of washing soda, miscellaneous ugly steel for sacrificial electrodes, and a 12 Volt 10 Amp transformer-type battery charger I picked up for $5.00 at a yard sale. The setup thoroughly removes rust and pain...

But are you able to solder those tiny components?
Yes, I can. Soldering resistors and capacitors down to 0602 and SMD ICs is no problem for me so far. I routinely do prototyping on microcontroller devices at that size. Liquid flux is my friend there!

Re: Looking for a microscope

I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-0MP-HD-Industrial-Lab-Microscope-Camera-VGA-USB-AV-TV-Output-Zoom-C-mount-Lens-/310829512224 I mounted it to a Starret height gauge I got for $9.00 at HGR and hooked it to a 22" LCD monitor.
