Re: 12VCompressor for a Brake Car

I use a Viair compressor for my train brakes. After going through a number of Thomas and Cadillac air ride compressor, I found the Viair compressor very reliable. I use a Deep Cycle Interstate marine battery for power. You will need to have a relay between your pressure switch and the compressor as...

Re: Little engines 1" line of engines

Foundries! Ah yes, Foundries! When we took over Allen Models we tried 3 different foundries before we found one that could pour the cylinders without burning up the cores. They made beautiful castings, but our price per cylinder was more than what Gene sold a pair for.

Re: I'm just an operator

I'm not an operator or a machinist. But, I can make parts. I come from an operations background, running a steam tourist railroad.
The operative saying is 'Now is better than perfect!'
Repeat after me - 'It'll make a trip!'

Going forward, you can purchase his gorgeous engines through Tom...
Just how would one contact Tom to purchase a loco? His previous website had that information, but I didn't see it on the new website.
If you have any questions for Tom, you can call him at 248-935-8234.

No, this is the locomotive built by me in Freeland, Michigan.
No. 7 was built by Jim Small of Brampton, Ontario.
Jim recently passed away.

Big Day on the SR&CL

Sunday, March 24, was a Big Day on the Sandy Ridge & Clear Lake Ry.! We fired up and ran #10 for the first time in 2 years. I replaced the throttle and the water glass. The work itself didn't take that long - the problem was finding time to go down there. The track is 2 1/2 hours from home, so I cou...

Re: Please plan ahead

Steve, when you bought Allen Models you got SEVEN locomotives - wait, actually eight!
There was the Chloe, the FN, the Mogul, the Ten-Wheeler, the American, the Consolidation, and the 0-4-0.
The Harpur 2-4-0 was with the stuff but we weren't marketing it.

Re: Display Track for 3/4" Locomotive

When I was buying ties we usually got 6" x 8", 8' long for standard gauge. This was on a shortline, mainlines often used bigger ties.
For 3/4" scale they would be 3/8" high, 1/2" wide, and 6" long.
