Re: Skating Away
Thanks for all the kind compliments. I'm going to draw some up for 1" eventually and see how they work. I've been busy traveling to meets and working on other projects. I'm also in the process of updating my machine to 4-start lead screws for the Z-Axis. These are stiffer and straighter than th...

Yes, I'm quite aware many others make similar products and offer them for sale.
The gentleman who runs that shop makes some very nice castings and products indeed.
I am not a supplier to the hobby and I have no intention of offering them publicly. The fun for me was making them.

Re: Skating Away
Quick answer.. Two probably would have done it, but three made it stop quicker seeing as that ramp is an oily, greasy mess. And those cars are not exactly light either, the Ann Arbor box car is completely stuffed with coal. I always use at least two or three on any sort of grade; it's piece o...

I can try to draw that up and prototype it next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Skating Away
Hi All- So it's been sometime since I posted here, but I just finished up a quick 3-D printer project that turned out pretty nice so I wanted to share. At meets I always find myself fighting gravity. Specifically the tendency of equipment to want to roll downhill. Murphy's law dictates that whenever...

Re: 1" scale Maxitrak electric 0-4-0
Hi Mike- I still have mine, and it still needs a motor and controller. I'm not going to be taking it apart until I figure out what I need to re-build. Something tells me its it's easier to keep all the parts in one place than many :) I don't have a schematic for it (or any documentation for that mat...

At the local club just this morning, a gentleman was loading up his diesel engine and it rolled off the lift. It flipped over 180 degrees and landed on the top of the cab and body hoods. Two are crushed, one is just bent up a bit, one battery was destroyed, and there was some other damage as well. ...

I've used brake-kleen for cleaning just about everything. You name it, I've probably used brake-kleen on it (the straws are very helpful when blasting grease out of wheel bearings and a little sprayed on a rag does wonders for removing a little rattle-can overspray on powder coat, just be careful as...

You know, if they would have waited a few years..say 30 or so,they would have been able to derail a box car by just leaning on it. Ahh good old Standing Derailments on the Penn Central. Gotta love it. Speaking of PC, I don't know if anyone ever posted this video here, but here is a link to PC's &quo...
