Re: Milling machine overarm - solid or tube

Steve, I believe the Mhead overarm on my 9x32 BP is a hollow casting. FWIW.

Re: Cutting aluminum on a band saw

The majority of chips can be knocked of the blade by fitting a brush to lightly rub on the blade. I have a Powermatic 15" Vertical. No problems with tires since new in the 80's. Buy a brass swede brush (about 1 x 3"wood handle ) and cut it in half. Mount one brush on a simple L bracket to ...

Re: ANSI Standard Force and Shrink Fits

I did the shrink fit for iron wheels recently. Calculating the coefficient of expansion I chose 300*F for 1" dia.
Didn't work. The heat transfer is VERY fast. 500* gave enough clearance vs time to get'er in there to the shoulder. :D

Re: Builders Plates

I have bought R. Dustins plates as well. Used them as a pattern to make silicone rubber molds then
poured waxes to have lost wax cast in silicon bronze by an art caster. Beautiful.
The early Westinghouse air pump cast bronze builders plate in 1/8 scale in this pic.

Re: the Rich Dean drawing. That is my slightly modified version of the Little Engines Semi-Auto drain originally supplied. It was found the original PTFE (Teflon) thickness was too thin and would deform under pressure to the point of plugging the exhaust port. 1/32" thickness solved the issue a...

Re: Electric Switch - Door Lock Actuators

CBREW, Please post a picture of the assembly motor & kick switch mechanism. Sounds like just the ticket. Some of the motor drive actuators spec a 10# force. Should be plenty. The use of these does need a toggle arrangement, so that is what we are researching now. Also these will be coupled to ou...

Electric Switch - Door Lock Actuators

Turnout Electric Switch Actuators ? We are looking for ideas/options for motorizing 7-1/2 Ga switches. A simple momentary polarity reversal scheme would work well with DC motors. Has anyone tried/used auto power door lock actuators? These are an inexpensive linear control somewhat sealed for harsh e...

Re: Marker Light Lenses

An excellent alternative are the series of G.E. Indicator lenses available from GESCo or Ebay, many others. Red: CR104PXL07R Green: CR104PXL07G Amber (better than yellow): CR104PXL07M There are domed and flat top versions, so be sure to check the details. With a simple fixture in a lathe chuck you p...
