Re: Cutting oil holder

I’m not at home now so I’ll try to describe one without pictures. Hopefully I will remember to put the picture up later. A friend took a “pounder “ from Budweiser (which matters because of the small neck) and cut it off below the neck in the large diameter. Maybe 30-40 percent of the height off the ...

There are approximately 10 seats left. thank you and ...

Re: rings in work piece

Senior, did you ever figure out the rings? I noticed "lead screw upgrade" in the original post. I once had a 14" Rockwell lathe. Not a bad machine. The carriage casting was open around the lead screw, so I (in my infinite wisdom) made bushings that were a few thou bigger ID than the l...

Re: Water treatment for iron boiler?

I work in an oil refinery and asked our water expert to give a short treatise on traction engine boilers (obviously steel) that would run at our show in Rollag MN, 4 days a year. Here's his answer and it's all scalable to model boilers for both size and amount of time operating. I found it interesti...

Re: What Makes a Machinist's Vise a Machinist's Vise?

WOW! I never get to provide input because I know so little. Furthermore, I NEVER get to say anything if Harold doesn't know, and I mean that with the respect he deserves. Good thread.
