Is there a working version of LibreCAD for Mac OSX? The link above has this note:

Re: Enginehouse Design

Also, don't forget narrow gauge. Your 1" scale 4 3/4 in gauge track will also support 1.5-1.6" scale NG.

PAST meeting in Sonoma Sat. Aug. 20, Tour Steam-Powered Mill

PAST is a group of people with an interest in old tools, their history, collecting, the trades that used them, and just having an excuse to get together and swap tools. Re: my project

Then we face clamped it over a spud fixture and turned the od to finish size.
The ring was in the free state when clamped with the wire. This produced
a finished ring with even wall pressure all around.
Kap, not following this. How did you turn the od if it was wrapped with a wire?

Re: which CAD program is good for live steam modelling?

Dave, Given you are going to get training in both AC and SW I don’t think you will have to much trouble translating. One thing about SW is getting into the basics is relatively straight forward. Essentially in SW you grow the part from a 2D sketch. Which shape in the part you grow first how it’s or...

Re: what is maximum curve in degrees?

The Baldwin spec sheet for the WP&Y 2-8-2 NG locomotive #73 says that the maximum curve is 24 degrees, and gives the spec of the track gauge on such a curve as 36 15/16", as opposed to the normal track gauge of 36". Is that the loco you want to build? If so what scale and gauge? That ...

Re: what is maximum curve in degrees?

Thanks for the definitions, but mainly for the full term: degree of curvature. That yielded lots of good search results, especially

Re: which CAD program is good for live steam modelling?

As you will be starting out and you have a learning curve regardless of 2 or 3D. As I sit here now pretty good in AutoCAD and could do better in Solidworks. I just wish I had not wasted all those years getting to grips with 2D and had got into 3D from the start. ... Jim It's good to make the deline...

Re: Leaf spring question

I believe what you are asking is how to account for the locomotive "rolling" from side to side as it moves along track that is not "perfect". The axis that the locomotive rolls about is called the roll axis, and the way to compensate this movement is to stiffen the springs. Auto...

Re: Leaf spring question

I don't have an answer, but the question is related to one I have been thinking about as well, so hopefully someone with the knowledge can include this as well: how does the springing differ for a NG compared to a standard gauge locomotive? Since the frames are closer for NG and therefore it has a s...
