Re: 1942 Army loco. 2/5 scale.

It has been awhile. I have only been on the track a couple of times in the last year. Since last showing the loco has been changed from ride-on to ride behind. An electric brake system has been designed using a linear drive, proving quiet workable. New riding carriage using single bogie/truck design...

Re: Electric wheelchair motors

In reference to what Harloc is saying above in relation to the chain/sprocket swivel action on the truck. I wonder if something could be concocted using the CV joint from a front drive car.
The chain/sprocket could stay in line with frame but countershaft on truck could swivel.
Just a thought....

Re: Electric wheelchair motors

I am an expert on nothing but this is what works for me. 2 joined motors were from wheel chair 420 watts each 24 volts. They are turned inward and joined with sprocket in centre. It powers the loco I am sitting on and hauls 3×8 foot carriages loaded with passengers. Single motor is 500 watt 24 volt ...

Re: 1942 Army loco. 2/5 scale.

Original and after being at Nambour.
Have been in contact with people who worked it, they say it was very light footed and was only used on maintenance work trains.
You can see extra weights that have been added over couplers and sand hoppers.

Re: 1942 Army loco. 2/5 scale.

The 1938 protoype appears to be constructed out of whatever was available. There was a Fordson tractor radiator followed by a Ford V8 truck engine and gearbox. The double pinion final drive was Malcolm Moores own design and construction. It was used for testing purposes at the ICI salt works in Sout...

Re: 1942 Army loco. 2/5 scale.

https://www.angrms.org.au/cpages/hunslet.pdf Another, same place where I have spent time getting Malcolm Moore photos. This is about 40 minutes from home. I can't say that I have taken much notice of whether it is still there or condition. If you go to Google and put in "Australian War Memorial Huns...
