Re: Annoying Movie Welding

To discuss Einstein's dumb ideas fully, one has to violate the board's policy of banning political discussion. I don't know if his recently revealed anti-Chinese writings would fall under "politics," but if not, they come close.

Re: Annoying Movie Welding

After all, this is Tony Stark who is not only completely off the charts in skills and knowledge of every sort, but has manual mills and lathes in what is portrayed as a fully automated private lab where simply spinning holograms and talking to his electronic sidekick seemingly autonomously realizes...

Re: Monarch lathe

I read Ian Fleming's novel, Casino Royale . In it, he bragged about James Bond's Bentley. He made it sound like a Lamborghini. Then I looked up the actual car. It looks like Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang. I shouldn't be surprised. It turns out Fleming wrote that book. Picture the Beverly Hillbillies' truc...

Re: CNC Router for Aluminum Machining?

Keith Fenner has an X Carve, which is supposed to be an inferior Shapeoko competitor. I don't know what he has made with it.

Starting to think I should just man up and start planning for a Tormach.

Annoying Movie Welding

Am I the only one who gets mad when movie and TV characters weld things in impossible ways? Yesterday I watched an awful Spider-Man movie. The Staten Island Ferry had been split down the middle. Iron Man showed up and welded the two halves together, using his hand-ray things, WITHOUT SHIELDING GAS. ...

Re: Sand or Concrete for Tractor Ballast Box?

Supposedly the rear tires are filled. The seller said they were "full of water." I don't have any logging tower tubes on hand, however. The FEL will lift 1559 lbs. to full height, and it has a "breakout" lift, whatever that is, of 2557 lbs. I have tried to lift one or two trees that wouldn't budge, ...

Re: Sand or Concrete for Tractor Ballast Box?

I think I'll try sand. As warmstrong says, if I don't like it, I can start over with concrete. I'm wondering if this box will hold 850 pounds of sand, now that I have seen the density figures.

Thanks for the help.

Sand or Concrete for Tractor Ballast Box?

I want to put a Titan ballast box on my Kubota L3710. I am tired of using a big clangy bush hog for ballast. Question: sand or concrete to fill the box? Concrete is neat and final, but sand can be dumped if I need to put the box on a truck, and it makes a better place to put tools and so forth becau...
