Re: Q: Need some boot purchasing advice

Interesting (to me) side note: I bought my first Danners in Miami. They had insulated boots, but none without insulation. The salesman told me they had found that 200-g insulated boots actually worked better in the heat. I always wear Wigwam wool socks. Warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and always...

Re: Q: Need some boot purchasing advice

When I was a kid, I moved from Miami to New York for college. In early October, we got 6 inches of snow, and I assumed it was going to be like that all year. I went out and got my first down jacket, plus insulated boots and wool socks. People told me to buy Timberland boots. What a mistake. They wer...

Re: Brass v.s. Bronze?

I have always wondered about the differences between bronze and brass. I was just Googling around, and I read that bronze is hard and brittle compared to brass, and that it resists corrosion better.

I guess this is why we had a Bronze Age and no Brass Age.

Re: Getting Rid of Live Oak Leaves?

First I have to get past the fun of removing the 345-pound deck from the mower, installing the kit and blades, and reinstalling the deck. I can hardly wait.

This mower mows in reverse.

Re: Getting Rid of Live Oak Leaves?

I came up with a strategy. I found out my mower was not set up for mulching. I ordered a mulching kit and 3 Gator blades. Supposedly, these blades do a better job. I may also get some kind of rake to drag. The idea is to loosen up the leaves so I can go back over them and mulch them.

I would guess I'm looking at 2.5 acres of very slow raking.

Getting Rid of Live Oak Leaves?

Wondering if anyone can advise me on getting rid of live oak leaves. Back in Miami, we did not have fallen leaves. Not much, anyway. I don't really know what to do with them. After Irma, we had lots of leaves here in Ocala, but I figured they would sort of go away by themselves. It looks like they s...
