Re: Boston & Albany K6b Pacific

Berkman, The frame I used is a water jet frame that I recessed slightly to seat the cylinders. I am fortunate that Bob Dean did all the engineering for me when he was building his Erie Pacific.

Re: Boston & Albany K6b Pacific

Time for my semi annual update photo. As you can see work has progressed. I am a good track builder, a fair machinist but a really lousy blog writer.

Here is the part installed, This was my first attempt at using a rotary table.

For self taught garage machinist, I am happy with the results.

Re: Handrail Stanchions?

If I recall right, prototype handrail would be between 1" and 1 3/8". At 2" scale, would give you a handrail of around 1/4"

Have you looked at little oil cups with spring loaded covers? I believe McMaster Carr carries them.

Re: Handrail Stanchions?

rkcarguy, have you figured our the hand rail stanchions yet? You can do a quick and easy body stanchion using steel cotter pins. They work great and you really have to look close to notice that they are cotter pins. I used them also for the coupler release bar brackets.

Re: Boston & Albany K6b Pacific

Got a lot done to the journals, just need to mount the face plates. It feels good to be making some serious progress. Unfortunately for this build log, I tend to get into the work and forget about taking pictures.
