Re: Brass rod half round 1/8" or German Silver Wire

I made something similar to Bill's jig. I used a slitting saw and pulled 1/4" copper tubing through it to cut a slit. This was for the edging of the cab on an English style engine.

Re: Cast iron ate my drill

I have a drill sharpener by General. Cheap little thing but once I learned how to use it I really like it. Can't beat it for the price. I have a cheap set of those TIN coated drills. I use them only for brass and they work great. I have ground the cutting edge flat on almost all of them as I use them.

Re: Allen steam fittings

On my Chloe the copper steam tubes eroded through twice so I replaced them with 1/8" brass pipe 15 years ago; no problem. On other engines I have covered the copper tubing with a sheet metal shield which seems to work well.

Re: 3/8" 00 Penberthy Injector suppliers

I have bought 4 or 5 used Penberth's on ebay that all worked well. You might look for steamboat suppliers as they use them. I had a link for Kunkle that is now Emerson but they don't show the style you want for our boilers. They should still be available.
