Re: Almost Skunked on a Grizzly Hunt.

Did you try any other of the tooling suppliers in the area before making the trek to the USA? KMS has a few bits and cutters, ACT Equipment Sales, Sharp-Rite Tooling & Manufacturing, there are others that don't come to mind at the moment. Also Sharp-Rite also has a cutter grinding division in ca...

Re: Pin Gages?

I used to use them a lot when inspecting. Great way to have go/not go measuring capabilities when you don't have a specially made one for a job as long as you keep in mind what kind of set you are using. A minus set, plus set or a nominal set. You can also see very quickly if a hole is tapered along...

Re: My new power feed

Quality Cutting Tools have 3 locations in Canada with one here in S'toon. :) I called them late on a Thursday to order a couple 5C collets and they had them on Monday. They gave me a printed catalogue. It's a good 3" thick.

Re: My new power feed

Owners of Busy Bee and Grizzly are family too but don't seem to get along. It would be a lot better for Busy Bee to have become the distributor for Grizzly up here rather than go their own way. Now that Grizzly will ship to Canada, where just a few years ago wouldn't, it is just going to make it tha...

Re: My new power feed

Ordering the Grizzly part may not fit the Busy Bee since Busy Bee change their models less often because of slower stock rotation and tending to go the cheaper route when specifying. A Grizzly machine and a Busy Bee may appear to be the same, except for paint, when you look at them but the Grizzly h...

Re: My new power feed

RG did you order the power feed from the parts list or one of the others in the catalogue? The one from the parts list might match up better.

Some braces and adaptors. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=32300&cat=1,180,42337&ap=1 Adaptors that will work in a brace too. 1/4 drive too small. Take a socket extension and mill the end to a size you like. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=44490&cat=1,180,42334&a...

Re: Today's Craigslist Precision Tooling Deal

Regarding silly things people do to surface plates. I watched the QA Manager and the Engineering Manager one afternoon cutting Mylars from the plotter with a box cutter and straight edge on the 5' x 10' x 16" granite surface table. I told them that if I had the authority to do so I would fire t...

Re: Marking Taps & Material for Chuck Keys

For the small taps. Drill and thread a piece of plastic and engrave the size on it. Screw the tap in in with some grease on it and put it in the drawer. Protected and identified. It is a lot easier though if you just buy some plastic tubes and write on the outside of them with a marker. Like these. ...

Re: Situating Fixed Tools in New Shop

I cut a 3" hole in a metal shelving unit beside the headstock of my lathe to put longer pieces through. Space was tight and it was easier to clear off the end of the shelf rather than try to move the lathe or shelving unit for clearance. Same reasons, as above, only on a smaller scale. Could th...
