Re: Caliper battery covers

If I bought a mit, I wouldn't have more than one and would constantly be running around looking for the last place I used it. I've now got all of my cheapo digitals up and usable and scattered around.

Re: Anyone know where I can find this roller?

Glad you going the receipt. I keep electronic copies of all my orders too. It's still a struggle finding the right one though. Can you find hardened dowels to use for your axle? Or maybe after x years it's just routine maintenance.

Re: Anyone know where I can find this roller?

Skate bearings are 22mm, or 7/8". They are slightly wider, but you should be able to make them work unless it has yup fit into a track which I doubt.

Re: Anyone know where I can find this roller?

No idea where to find that. I've had similar things and it ends up being faster to just make them. Inevitably, making them causes them to turn up the very next time I'm on the internet.

Re: Plasma cutter options

Chastise? Sorry, maybe it wasn't meant that way. I may have misinterpreted it. I have seen way too often, somebody wants to go to a bigger machine, be it a welder, mill, 3D printer, whatever, and somebody gets on and says, well, you should have bought bigger the first time. That happened to me when...

Re: Plasma cutter options

I wish we were all in a position to just get the one we want. I know there are times I hear questions from people who have the option and don't know and of course, they are steered toward the bigger option. Most of us, though, I think end up with something smaller than we ultimately need because at ...

Re: Dead 3/4 hp motor - starter capacitor?

The only time I really use any kind of coolant, it's WD40 on certain aluminums to keep it from gumming up the blade. Otherwise, I rarely use anything at all. I can see where if you were really aggressive in some steels, it might be beneficial, but for the bulk of what we do, it just makes an unneces...

Re: Caliper battery covers

The grey digitals like in the pic have served me well, much like the orange angle grinders of which I have several. The black ones suck, imo. I do enough relative measurements that even if I start with the dial, I often go back and get the digital out of the drawer. They aren't exact always but they...

Re: Caliper battery covers

I'd say the beers are cheap, but I think it cost me 4 cents on resin. Of course I never count my time and effort or else this would be a money losing hobby!

Re: Caliper battery covers

I never would have tried this with our older 3d printer, but the new sla printer does an incredible job on fine details so I figured it would work great for small items like this. It's been great fun!

Re: Steel plate identification

I don't know where my reply went, but you might try annealing it if you need to work with HSS. I had a chunk of 1/4" something that carbide would barely touch. Both I and a buddy went through a carbide endmills and inserts trying to put a hole in it. Finally put a chunk of it in his heat treat oven ...
