Re: Simple Spacer vs Super Spacer VS Dividing Head vs Rotary table

I am not sure what a Speedi spacer is but if it is the 5c indexer like in the bottom picture I have one of those and it is very handy for small stuff. I just got a vertex indexer but I am not sure if it is a super spacer, regular spacer, or simply an indexer. It is the one in the upper picture. 6_8_...

Simple Spacer vs Super Spacer VS Dividing Head vs Rotary table

I am trying to find all the differences and pros and cons for a dividing head, vs indexing spacing vs super spacer vs a rotary table. I understand a rotary table has a worm gear that can rotate the table but I have seen super spacers with the same type of knob that rotates the table or chuck so is t...

Has anyone bought one of these Rotary Broaches?

I came across this nice-looking rotary broach that the seller "striber13" is selling, I assume he makes them. Has anyone bought one of these? After buying a cheaper Chinese version I am reluctant to buy another one unless I can see a video or hear someone's feedback that has used one. Broa...

Re: I made a new faceplate for my Lathe.

LOL, I can see the confusion. I actually had a hard time figuring out what the plate is called. I called it the identification plate, name plate, and face plate.

I made a new faceplate for my Lathe.

The face plate on my lathe was worn so I set out to make a new one. I made it out of stainless steel and laser engraved it so it should last forever. I decided to make a couple of modifications so it would have useful information engraved on the face plate also. I shot a video of the process I used ...

Re: Inexpensive Rotary Broach

Was yours from eBay at a ridiculously low price ? I bought one off eBay about a year and a half ago just for fun, I knew it was going to junk, just from the pictures in the listing, bearings felt like they had fine aggregate in them, then fought a battle to get a refund ( I won, with eBays help ) S...

Inexpensive Rotary Broach

One thing I have always wanted to add to my tooling collection is a Rotary Broach, which I will hardly ever use but one that you almost have to have to do the job it is designed to do. I bought a cheap Chinese version that literally does not work at all. It was a waste of $40 so my question is does ...

Re: Tailstock Tap and Die holder Tool for Lathe

GlennW and Harold, You are correct but I get free hand taps so I use them and am extra careful not to bind them to much and snap them off. You'll never know how expensive something is until it's free. Your taps might be free, but your workpiece and your time are not - consider the cost of a broken ...

Tailstock Tap and Die holder Tool for Lathe

A few years ago I made a tailstock Tap and Die holder and it is so handy I will pull it out even if I am only tapping or threading one part. It is easy to make and easy and fast to use. https://i9.ytimg.com/vi_webp/A1TVFuRYW_I/sddefault.webp?v=5d164266&sqp=CLCf-4gG&rs=AOn4CLCIB8srp5C40jsdkvm...
