hats

Aw jeeze,
Now I gotta go buy a hat. That is going to put a dent in the machinery acquisition fund, though. :-)

I stole mine with Photoshop. Made it a lot easier.

Norton Abraisive's Book

Jose, Thank you for posting the link on the Norton Abraisives book. One word, Awsome! Really makes identifying grinding wheels out in the wild easy, not to mention choosing the correct wheel to start. This type of information, and Harold's post on grinding, is the knowledge base that keeps me coming...

That's known as an excess of "floorium".
Very nice job on the bandsaw, by the way!

The vast amount of knowledge and professionalism here are truely amazing. I am very happy to have found this site, and hope to see many more projects such a...

Welcome

Grymster, welcome to the forum.
And, when you figure out what all that "stuff" is that you are going to be making...let me know! Then I can be more specific with my wife when I tell her I am going to make "stuff" also. :-)

Hi Jon,

Welcome to Chaski!

While I am not as active here as OWWM.org, it is a very friendly place to hang out. Lots of good folks and lots of good advice.

bandsaw

Guys,

More geat advice and things to look for in a saw!

I am going to go through all the posts and compile a list of the specifications I should be looking for in a saw, and after I have done that I will post my conclusions and most likely candidates.

Then the hunt will be on!

Thanks,
Neal

bandsaws

Guys, Got some good information and suggestions so far. Let me clarify the use: Home shop. Used to cut stock down in size before additional machining. Occasional cutting of some steel. We do some "automotive fabrication". Like this: http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/ss248/nealdraper/LC2.j...

Horizontal Bandsaw's - the Good-the Bad-& the Ugly

I have been thinking about getting a horizontal bandsaw. The seem to fall into two catagories: 1. Really nice ones for umpteen thousands of dollars. 2. Cheap imports for a few hundred dollars. Assuming I want to spend somewhere around $750 to $1100 to get something that can do at least 5"x7&quo...

xy table

I'll add my vote for an XY table. I just have a PhaseII, but it gets the job done on the drill press. It really cuts down on having to jockey the table around to line up on a location.

grinder

Jose, I am afraid that grinder was money ill-spent and will be of no practical use to you. So, I will be happy to drive over and haul it away for you. I won't even charge you the bridge tolls or gas expense. I'm just sayin'. Truthfully, very nice!! If you run across another one let me know. I have b...

Teflon & gasoline

I'll second what Jose said. I would not use any teflon, like a thread sealant, where it might come in contact with gasoline either.
