Re: Pattern Making

Are you pouring the Freeman Fast Cast directly on a pattern in one shot to make a mold ? One thing you can do with the Freeman material to make a mold is brush the material on your pattern in layers rather than in a one shot pour, by brushing in layers you'll have less of a exotherm than one solid m...

Re: Paint prep

+ 1 with what Steamin suggests, I'll also add do a wipe with 99% isopropyl, you'd be surprised at how much is left over
that lacquer thinner and acetone didn't remove.

Re: Maximat compact mq3100

You might want to join the EmcoV10Lathe Group there's a few guys there that have
this older Maximat lathe, and there is a repository of files there that may help.

Re: Maximat compact mq3100

You may want to try Stock Drive products if you're based in USA for pre made nylon gear stock or even McMaster for gear stock.

Re: Hot glue gun

If you're not seeing any immediate use for a hot glue gun or aren't into crafting work and are just curious then just buy what's on sale at the big box stores or horror freight, make sure the one you get has compatibility with other brands glue sticks. Personally I use the 3M hotmelt glue guns, very...

Re: Aquarium Air Pump for chip clearing?

Aquarium pumps are pretty quiet, but for chip clearing it'll do a miserable job it'll barely move wood chips let alone metal.

Re: What type of nuts are these ?

Thanks Russ, I really don't have much use for nuts like that, especially the size of these ( 5/8 - 11 )
nyloc nuts work fine for me. Some ( heck, quite a few ) dont seem to 'seize up' as I thread them onto a corresponding bolt.
Guess it's a trip to the metal scrappers with these.

What type of nuts are these ?

I recently bought a small parts cabinet from a a friend, the cabinet is the kind you used to find in hardware stores, a sliding covered drawer with compartments, it also ( conservatively estimated) came with probably 150 lbs of bolts, nuts and washers. I came across these in the haul, I've never see...

Re: Emco Maximat V10P Lathe Leveling and check bearing tension

For chatter, I am still fairly new to using the lathe and I am making a tool to set the height of the tool tips so that should help. I did check the delrin strip and it had some wear so i turned it over and now I can't tighten the bolts that hold it in place too much or it is too hard to move the c...
