Re: Determining manual milling X axis feed ?

DOC is not chip load...but your concept of inches per minute is correct. Ok ! So I'll have to fiddle with the speed dial on the X-axis with a stop watch to get the inch p/m. Chip load is how much thickness of material is removed by each insert as it rotates through, and up until you run out of hors...

Re: Determining manual milling X axis feed ?

Feeds are a function of tooth load and therefore a function of spindle speed, and cutter material and stock material... And machine rigidity and number if teeth in the tool. Ok, I understand how all those parameters effect each other, I'm going to use this example from a current project I'm doing u...

Determining manual milling X axis feed ?

There is plenty of info on the web regarding speeds and feeds for milling various metals, and I've been doing a deep dive in my down time to extend tool life and get better a better finish. The X-axis or feed info seems to be geared towards CNC where the sum of the formula for feeds, or X-axis movem...

FS - Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP Welder

The Lincoln 210 MP has been sitting idle for close to 5 years and it needs a new home. It’s been used on one or two small projects, not including my practice welding, so it’s essentially like new. It was bought as the Aluminum One Pack special package deal from Lincoln Electric that included the Mag...

FS - 8 -1/2" dia. slotted faceplate

I think it's a Atlas / Craftsman faceplate, in very good shape, bought to possibly use on my lathe but I decided that it's not going to work. There is a number cast into the plate 9-365, has a 1.5" - 8 spindle thread. Asking $45.00 plus shipping ( should fit in a medium flat rate box ) Paypal o...

Don't think online metals ships to the UK, you might try Googling for - aluminum extrusion suppliers in the UK
to find something closer to you.

Re: Pattern Making

Are you pouring the Freeman Fast Cast directly on a pattern in one shot to make a mold ? One thing you can do with the Freeman material to make a mold is brush the material on your pattern in layers rather than in a one shot pour, by brushing in layers you'll have less of a exotherm than one solid m...

+ 1 with what Steamin suggests, I'll also add do a wipe with 99% isopropyl, you'd be surprised at how much is left over
that lacquer thinner and acetone didn't remove.

Re: Maximat compact mq3100

You might want to join the EmcoV10Lathe Group there's a few guys there that have
this older Maximat lathe, and there is a repository of files there that may help.
