Re: #5 MT to R8 Adapter?

Wanted to thank Millman5 for all the help and explaination on his tool holders. It really helps to get some input on what other people are doing. Also, thanks for the photos. That really helps to clearify things and put ideas in my head for the R8 tool holder. Attached is a photo of a MT5 tool holde...

Re: Slow, slow and slower

UK/Steam,

I am having the same problem here in the North Eastern, USA. Not only does it take forever to load the posts but sometimes it just hangs right up. Right now it's been working fine.

Re: #5 MT to R8 Adapter?

Hi Neil, Wow! That sounds just what I am looking for. I don't understand where your bolt is holding the adapter in the Lucas HBM spindle, but if you could send a photo or two I would appreciate it. Being able to use all the R8 tooling I have would open up a new world on the Lucas HBM. Thanks for you...

#5 MT to R8 Adapter?

Hi All, This might be a crazy request, but what I am woundering is, if an adapter exists that goes from a #5 MT to an R8. Every once in a while there is some R8 tooling that I would like to use in my Lucas HBM which the spindle has a #5 MT. I could make something special up, but was wondering if any...

Re: Vise Grips

Hi Lee, I think the only way I came close to ruining a pair of vise grips was from the repeated welding I did right next to the jaws for years. My abuse! Believe it or not, the vise grips still do their job though every day. Vise grips are not cheap, but worth every penny when you need them. Craig A...

power hasksaw coolant question

Hi All, Recently I purchased a Marvel 4B power hacksaw. The saw has a coolant system and I was wondering what you guys would recomend for coolant. Also, I was wondering what your thoughts would be for using kerosene as a coolant. A small piston pump, pumps up the coolant to the work. Thanks for your...

Re: anyone ever use one of these??

Hi Millman5, There are a lot of photos on my website of the tooling I use on the Lucas. Most of the tooling is all homemade except for some drill chucks and a UPA3 boring and facing head. I have made a few special holders out of some existing MT5 tooling but the way I like to mount the tooling to th...

Re: anyone ever use one of these??

Hi Millman5, Yes I was watching that auction on ebay. The #41 your getting is an awesome machine. I have a #31 with a 3" spindle and a #5 MT, you can see some photos of it by clicking on the links below. My #31 runs real nice and is a very stable accurate machine. Like any machine operation the...

Re: LH Thread Cutting

Hi All, Wanted to say thanks for all the information on cutting the LH internal and external threads. There is a lot of information here to go over and ponder. When I get the threads cut I will post a couple of photos so you can see how I made out. Thanks again for your time and explainations. See y...

Re: LH Thread Cutting

Hi All, Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Doug, I have been wondering how I would start the LH thread up by the hex, (if you look at the second picture in my original post, you can see what I mean). With the method you suggested I could pull out just before the hex, just like RH threading. Al...

LH Thread Cutting

Hi All, I have a question about cutting LH threads that I am embarrassed to ask. I am in the process of making a compression release valve for a Fairbanks Morse Semi Deisel engine I own and need to cut a LH thread on one end. (see photos below) It's been 27 years plus, since I cut a LH thread (in sc...
