Has anyone here ever used Ferric chloride for etching?

I recently bought some for etching aluminum corrugated siding in HO scale for my layout.

what I want to know is .........will plain water stop the reacting of the etchant and aluminum or should I add baking soda to the water?

A guy I used to work with would walk around the shop every so often and sniff from a shop rag soaked with acetone.
This was the same guy in charge of the backshops of where I used to work at.

Re: Converting a lawn tractor to a locomotive

You could use the vertical shaft engine to drive a generator or alternator.......use a belt, either V or toothed.

I know a guy that built a Hydraulic powered loco using a toothed belt to drive the hydro pump.
