Such advice is why I ask and so, pay attention to the responses. If I understand the majority of the comments the way to go is quality collets and a power draw bar.
Who purveys quality collets?

I am concerned that an endmill held in an R8 collet is not as secure as one that uses a set screw.

Is there an R8 shank holder that will use a set screw?
