Re: 3/4" Kozo A3a Side Rods Tight

Thanks Todd! I am using Flickr as my build log. If you have been following, I try to post the achievements as well as the missteps. Hopefully, this might aid others too. One of the things that I find interesting about looking at other build logs, is that way that machinist hold and fixture the work....

Re: 3/4" Kozo A3a Side Rods Tight

First, Thank You All very much for your suggestions, interest, support, and kind words. With the feedback that was offered, I decided to keep the Side Rods on the side of the chassis that provided the smoothest running. Due to the features on the Side Rods (Pin counterbore and oilers), the side rods...

3/4" Kozo A3a Side Rods Tight

Hello, I have drilled and reamed the holes for the Side Rods on my 3/4" Kozo A3a Switcher that I am constructing. The Side Rods have not been finished yet, but are to the point that I can test fit. The Side Rod bushings are a very close fit to the crank pins. With Side Rod 1 on the left, and Si...

Re: Scale bolts for models

I have used American Model Engineering Supply for both scale fasteners and small taps. The fasteners are available in brass, steel and stainless. The taps are of high quality too.

Re: Spanner Wrench

Craig,

I thought about pinning, but was not sure if the holes would loosen up after some use.

Spanner Wrench

Hello, I decided to build my own spanner wrench after ordering one that was the wrong size. It was a pretty quick project and except for the welding, I am happy with the resulting tool. Here are a couple of 'before and after' MIG welding photos: My intentions were to fill the holes with weld, then f...

Upgrading from G4000 to G4003G, Shop Visit?

I am contemplating upgrading my lathe from a Grizzly G4000 to G4003G. I have motor vibration issues on the G4000, which I could likely fix by replacing with new AC motor, or migrating to 3-PH Motor with VFD controller, etc. But rather than putting more money into the G4000, I am considering it a goo...

Re: Two questions re my build

I built a holder for slitting saw blades that worked well for cutting e-clip grooves: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4784726277_0e71a85912.jpg Slit Saw Holder - Assembled Close Up by gregrycm , on Flickr http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5203/5321955009_1cfb754fb2.jpg Slitting Saw Pin for E-Clip b...

Menards also has fire bricks. I think they are about $7-$9 for a box of 6 and are about 8 x 4 x 1.5"

I use them for a silver soldering hearth with good results.
