Thanks Todd! I am using Flickr as my build log. If you have been following, I try to post the achievements as well as the missteps. Hopefully, this might aid others too. I have used American Model Engineering Supply for both scale fasteners and small taps. The fasteners are available in brass, steel and stainless. The taps are of high quality too.

Menards also has fire bricks. I think they are about $7-$9 for a box of 6 and are about 8 x 4 x 1.5"

I use them for a silver soldering hearth with good results.
