Sometimes the low temp rating stems from the use of plastic shims or washers in the assembly. Replace with metal and you are good to go.

You may be referring to Feb. 1985 issue of Live Steam (volume 19 number 2) page 57. Check out the youtube video "Pioneer Valley Live Steamers June 16, 2012" by Karin Wilmarth. Is this the one?

I too am an advocate of the 50/50 mix. Better recovery if you get behind on the fire, less ash in the pan, more ash carried to the smoke box, a cleaner stack than straight bituminous but with just enough haze to show that you are burning SOMETHING ( gosh mister, what makes this thing go? ).

Re: Thoughts on letting other people run your locomotive
Everyone ran my engine BUT me this past weekend at the WLS meet. I only had about an hour of seat time, even though 2114 put 200 lb of coal up the stack.

Re: Turbo Generator Thoughts and Thanks
Chaz, The guts of a pneumatic hand tool is not a turbine, but a vane motor (similar to a vacuum pump). As such, it has more torque at a much lower RPM.
