Does anyone know of a reasonable place to buy individual drill bits, specifically smaller sizes and American made or good quality 1/8 in particular? the size I seem to abuse most often. thanks for any help I appreciate it

Thanks Pete, you hit the nail on the head. I thought my post was pretty clear about it being a morse taper issue, I was about to try rewording it lol. Do you have any idea about the thread you mentioned about repairing it or do I just go to the site and start looking?

Does anyone have thoughts on repairing the morse taper on a worn tailstock? Still holding drill chucks centers etc but under a load with a live center for example I'm able to see significant movement. Is this something to bore, or not a good idea to try at home? If so any suggestions on someone that...

If its a light duty situation just for checking ignitions or similar you can get your taper as close as you can without driving yourself crazy and then bore a significant amount out of the center of the taper leaving the ends alone. looking to find machinable cast iron tubing 4or 4.5 " id and 8" od, no smaller than 7.5 though and no bigger than 5" on the id. anyone know where to purchase something like that or do i have to get bar stock? thanks josh

check out a brand called AC Tech they are american made, precision electric is the name of the dealer i purchased a couple from, very good people to deal with, cant remember where precision electic is but they also sell off of ebay, shouldnt be hard to find

I have a summit lathe with a 19'' swing and looking to purchase a used three jaw chuck, seems like most machines of this size are using a 12'' or 15'' chuck. Chipmaker, and everone helping on this, yes the rpc starts instantly, the only load on the lathe is a 15'' 4 jaw chuck, definately alot of rotating weight, can there be some kind of centrifigal device in the lathe motor, i cant be sure but it almost sounds like a clicking noise as soon as the motor ...

Thanks for all your help guys, so i was able to temporaraly wire this and try it, it's slow starting, but comes up to speed, than when you run the spindle it works fine up into the 400-500 rpm range, but anything after that itll blow the 50 amp main breaker in the box, i realize that isnt the best w...

i have a 7.5 hp CNC american rotary converter , wanting to run a lathe that has a 7.5 hp motor, the lathe has clutches so the motor wouldnt be turned on and off as far as using excessive starting current, seems like manufacturer might recomend a converter one size larger than your motor according to...
