Re: Tips on milling brass
Bob, I most definitively try G-Wizard. But I usually find that the cutting speeds of books and programs seem to be oriented to big production machines where speed is king. I got plenty of time and do not need to force my machine, so I am looking for the experience of other hobbist that work with bra...

Tips on milling brass
I am a newbie with a mill, and never worked with brass before. I just completed a G code simple program to make a Turner's cube in aluminum (see my thread "New member in Houston, TX"). I discovered I had some square brass bars that I bough on e-bay years ago and would like make a few cubes...

Re: New member from Houston TX
I actually made one before with my manual lathe. Way harder! a lot of boring and very precise measurements plus the always challenging task of finding the center of a block in a four jaw chuck.

Update
My 220 is installed but I do not have my Wabeco machine yet. I bough a X2 mill to use in a future as auxiliary mill. Joined the Houston Club and I even presented in the "show and tell" my first mill project! (a lathe stop).
Thank you all for your tips and advise.

I just did a ton of research for a small benchmill below 300lb. My conclusion:
Cost is not an issue: Wabeco F1210hs http://www.mdaprecision.com/
Under budget: Lathemaster LMT25L http://www.lathemaster.com/ (weiss machine)

220 Project Underway!
OK guys, I bit the bullet and getting my 220 connection. Now which bench mill should I buy? My main constrain is space, especially I will not like the mill to portrude more than 26 in max from the back wall. Also will like to place it in a sturdy bench I already built. I think I should stay below 60...
