Re: 12VCompressor for a Brake Car

Thanks for the input to date. I should mention that this is for the LE American which pulls me a brake car and a caboose with a total weight of 525 pounds with me on it. A long run so far has been two hours and at that point I could barely walk after getting off it. DSC_5336.jpg like most LE America...

12VCompressor for a Brake Car

Morning all, My attempt at a brake car for the American worked great except when it did not work. The first try was using a CO2 bottle from a paintball gun with a regulator set at 30PSI. As I say it works great until the gas runs out. Will now convert it to a battery driven compressor with resevoir ...

Re: Converting a Baldwin 2-4-2 LYN to a Baldwin 2-4-4

This must be the slowest build in the history of Chaski.

Still plugging along. I am retiring in December and hoping to make this my full time job.

Latest Progress.

Re: 2.5 Inch Scale Boxcar From the Wheels up

Sorry for the delay in the answer Fender. I am running at 660 with the wheel. You can tell by the sparks that you are cutting a hardened surface. Same RPM with the drill for the pin hole.

Re: 2.5 Inch Scale Boxcar From the Wheels up

Current efforts. Ordering springs in various weights and sizes. As all the trucks I produce will be for non riding cars I am looking at a half inch diameter spring with a 3/4 inch outside spring to pick up any extra load while running. I have been working up a spring pad to hold the 16 springs per t...

Re: 2.5 Inch Scale Boxcar From the Wheels up

I mentioned earlier that the machining of the frame columns was straight forward. Well, this was true up to the point when I machined out another set for a second prototype. This is to have brakes. Steve had warned me that the stubs for mounting brake hangers on the Allen Models we bad about being h...
